5 Ways to Spruce Up Your Walls Without Paint

No paint? No problem! Check out these 5 non-committal ways to upgrade your walls. With nearly unlimited designs and materials available nowadays at your local home improvement store, you can experiment to your hearts desire without breaking the bank.

1). Wainscoting

Both practical and stylish, Wainscoting is a great way to protect the walls from scuffs while adding some depth and warmth to the room. Dating back all the way to the 1300s, this look is definitely a classic one, and it is making a fashionable comeback. With this installation, height is very important. Generally, you’ll want the paneling to go up to about 1/3 of the wall. However, we?ve seen this style cover the entire wall up to the ceiling. Wainscot paneling is available in a number of materials including plastic, plywood, and medium fiberboard.

2). Peel-Off Wall Paper

The days of traditional wallpaper are long gone. Today, many brands offer peel-and-stick wallpaper that is very easy to install, easy to remove, and quite affordable. With this material, you’ll have nearly endless design options ranging from vibrant colors and patterns to murals and life-sized images.

3). Decals

If you?re not looking to cover the entire wall, decals are a bold and budget-friendly way to add a splash of color or pattern. This option is very versatile with plenty of designs available from small shapes and inspirational quotes to less subtle designs like landscapes and images. Similar to peel-and-stick wallpaper, decals are completely non-committal, so feel free to experiment!

4). Mirrors

Using mirrors as a decorative piece is one of the oldest tricks in the book. Allowing more light to bounce around, mirrors can often make a room feel larger and brighter. Install uniform mirrors across your wall for a cleaner, more modern feel or opt for differently shaped mirrors with decorative borders for a more unique look. The best feature of this option is that you?ll get more chances to check yourself out!??

5). Washi Tape

Believe it or not, decorative tape has become a popular choice for wall art and accents. Washi Tape, in particular, is great for the walls, slightly transparent, and comes in a wide range of patterns and colors. If you are looking for complete creative freedom but would rather not use paint, decorative tape is definitely an option to consider. It also peels off easily and is gentle on the wallet. Just make sure you get your lines straight, otherwise, it will stick out like a sore thumb. Pro Tip: vertical stripes can provide the illusion of a more open and tall room.
